Creamy almond butter is not only a delicious and healthy treat. It is also super easy to make. Just pull out your blender or food processor and some almonds and you are ready to go. The best news? You don’t need a fancy blender to make super smooth almond butter.

PATIENCE IS KEY
I’ve loved almond butter for many years. It was a real treat when my mom would come home with a jar of almond butter instead of its cheaper and far less superior peanut counterpart. I was known for keeping a large jar of Justin’s almond butter in the cabinets of my small dorm room kitchen. I would have a small spoonful as a treat, trying to ration it out with care because you know what? Almond butter is expensive! It took me years to buckle down and try to make it myself. Maybe that is because I was deceived into thinking you had to own a $400 blender to get the job done. Go figure it took me buying myself a $400 blender to realize you absolutely do not need to get a fancy piece of equipment to make nut butter. A high powered blender will make the job go quicker, but you can get by without it. If you don’t have a fancy Vitamix or Blendtec read below to see how you can make almond butter at home with your budget blender and remember! Be patient.
INGREDIENTS FOR CREAMY ALMOND BUTTER
- 1 lbs almonds
- 3 tbsp avocado oil
- 2 tbsp honey
WILL ANY BLENDER/FOOD PROCESSOR WORK
Any decent blender or food processor should be able to get the job done HOWEVER you know your blender. Even though it takes a bit longer, my $30 Oster rivals my Vitamix when it comes to the end product whereas my friend’s $100+ Ninja can’t even decently blend Kale into smoothies. I’ve also had good luck with my Hamilton Beach food processor. I also tried this recipe out with my Kitchen Aid immersion blender. Unfortunately that one was a no go.
In this tutorial I will be using the Oster blender that I was gifted as a wedding gift. Amazon no longer sells the one that I own but it is similar to this one.

HOW TO MAKE CREAMY ALMOND BUTTER?
First you want to roast your almonds. This releases the natural oils and makes the almonds easier to blend. Roast the almonds for 10 minutes at 325 degrees F.

Remove the almonds from the oven and transport to a bowl to cool. At this point your almond will be “popping.” No worries! This means they are nice and toasty.
Next, place your almonds in your blender. If you are using a high powered blender you typically won’t have to worry about adding any additional oil but when using a budget blender you are going to want to add around 3 tbsp of your favorite flavorless oil. For this recipe I like to use avocado oil.

Okay! Now remember patience is a virtue. Come equipped with a wooden spoon or spatula and BLEND. Start at a slower speed and work your way to the highest speed, scraping the sides as necessary with your spoon. If you aren’t getting anywhere add a tad bit more oil and continue blending.

Once you are happy with the consistency put in any add-ins you like. I enjoy adding honey but you may want to try maple syrup, cinnamon, or even cocoa powder.
THANKS FOR PINNING!
